There was a special election on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 to decide whether or not to approve a debt exclusion to fund a new consolidated elementary school in Stoughton. A majority of voters were against funding this project. We were hoping for a different result, but thank all of the residents who came out to vote, and especially thank the many volunteers who spent time championing this project.
Regardless of the outcome of the vote, the physical condition of the South Elementary School remains an ongoing issue that will need to be addressed. We understand there is concern about what happens as a result of this vote. The elementary school building committee will be meeting soon to discuss next steps and how to best proceed.
We still remain committed to providing the best quality education for the children of Stoughton and will continue to keep our community up to date.
